Project Overview
This project is a high-impact, mixed-media poster concept featuring world-renowned footballer Antoine Griezmann styled in Orlando City SC branding. Designed in the style of modern sports media key visuals, the artwork blends elite athlete portraiture with iconic Orlando landmarks, celebrating the intersection of international football culture and local club identity.
Design Breakdown & Art Direction
1. Composition & Visual Hierarchy
Central Focal Point: A large, energetic cutout of Griezmann celebrating in the official Orlando City kit anchors the center, drawing immediate focus.
Dual Portraits (Top): Framing the top corners are two high-detail profile shots—one displaying intense focus (left) and the other depicting joy/celebration (right)—adding narrative depth to the player’s persona.
Dynamic Action (Bottom): Full-body action cuts on the lower dynamic plane ground the piece in athletic movement and gameplay.
Layering & Depth: The design utilizes multi-layered depth, stacking urban architecture, local landmarks, torn-paper graphics, and athlete cutouts seamlessly.
2. Color Palette & Aesthetics
Primary Palette: Built around Orlando City SC’s iconic identity—Deep Royal Purple and Vibrant Gold/Yellow, balanced with high-contrast neutral whites and warm skin tones.
Textural Overlay: A heavy film grain, paper crease overlay, and halftone dot textures give the piece a tangible, editorial street-wear aesthetic rather than a flat digital look.
3. Regional & Cultural Integration
Landmarks: Incorporates recognizable Orlando iconography in the background—including Epcot’s Spaceship Earth sphere, Downtown Orlando architecture, and the ICON Park Ferris Wheel—reinforcing community connection.
Brand Graphics: Stylized sunburst/lion-mane motifs in gold frame the outer edges, echoing the club’s crest and sunshine state motif.
Technical Execution & Skills Demonstrated
Advanced Photo Manipulation: Seamless kit-swapping and uniform integration, matching lighting, shadows, and perspective from multiple image sources.
Color Grading & Harmonization: Applying unified tone curves, selective color adjustments, and gradient maps to bring disparate photos into a cohesive color space.
Texture & Mixed Media Compositing: Utilizing blend modes (Multiply, Screen, Overlay), halftone brushes, and torn-paper vectors to achieve a modern sports graphic trend.
