(About Project)
B•A•R•Ç•A is a bold editorial poster created as a cultural crossover piece for FC Barcelona, reimagining the club’s players through the iconic visual language of the TV series Friends. The design drops the squad into the classic Central Perk–style orange couch scene, complete with fountain, night-time city backdrop, and the unmistakable dotted logo treatment turning football stars into a tight-knit “group of friends.”
Overview
The primary objective was to craft a high-impact, instantly recognizable tribute that blends sports branding with nostalgic pop-culture storytelling. I focused on cinematic lighting, rich nighttime atmosphere, precise wardrobe and pose matching to the original Friends title sequence, and a clean bottom lockup of “B•A•R•Ç•A” that directly echoes the show’s logo while remaining true to Barça’s identity.
Challenge
Merging real player photography with a highly stylized, multi-layered night scene (fountain spray, practical lamps, ornate architecture, grass, and couch) risks looking forced or cluttered. The main creative and technical challenge was achieving seamless compositing, consistent color grading, and natural interaction between the athletes so the image feels like a single cinematic moment rather than a cut and paste collage all while preserving the playful, welcoming energy of the original Friends opener.
Solution
I built the piece around carefully selected player cutouts, matched lighting direction and skin tones, and added environmental storytelling details (ladder + suitcase gag, open-arm greeting, relaxed couch poses, earbuds, sunglasses). Color was pushed toward warm practicals against cool night blues, fountain mist was integrated for depth, and the final “B•A•R•Ç•A” wordmark was set in the exact Friends style. The result is a polished, shareable poster that feels both premium and light-hearted a perfect cultural handshake between the beautiful game and a beloved sitcom.
